Criteria:
There are different requirements for each award. The Gold Award is the
most prestigious award, and is therefore also very hard to get.
The below criteria MUST be read before you submit your site for evaluation.
§1 - Sites that will not be considered for nomination
§1.1
Sites that contain one or more of the following:
- Adult material
- Racism
- Sexim
- Illegal activities
- Copyrighted material
- Other material that may be deemed offensive. We reserve the
right to decide, which material is deemed offensive.
You will respect this.
- Sites may not steal bandwidth from other sites.
§2 - Criteria for evaluation
§2.1
We are looking for sites that have new, creative and innovative designs. This
may be in the form of a completely new layout or an old layout used in a
very creative new way.
§2.2
How well does the layout support the theme?
It is very important, that the layout supports the theme and content of the
site. Also, it is important that the site is easily navigated, and that it is
easy for visitors to read the content.
Should a member of the jury want to have his or her own site evaluated, that
member will not be allowed to vote in that particular nomination.
§3 - The jury process
§3.1
The site will be reviewed by a number of judges, all of them who are in the
Award Jury.
When reviewed, the judges will use the Voting System to cast his/her votes,
which will then be sent to the CotB.
The members of the jury all have thorough knowledge of the Internet, and most
are familiar about creating homepages.
All judges are critical, professional, and fair - they have been instructed
to be - and will not let lack of interest in a certain subject influence
their decision.
§3.2
Your site can be nominated in two different ways. First (and primarily), you
can submit your own site, and the members of the jury will then review the
site. Secondly, a member of the jury can nominate a site that he or she finds
interesting, and then submit the URL of that site to the CotB, whereafter the
jury will review and vote as usual.
§3.3
Once your have submitted a site, the CotB will review the site, making sure
that the site does not break one or more of the basic rules (§1)
§3.4
The members of the jury are not allowed to discuss site nominations with
anyone not a member of the jury. Furthermore, they are not allowed to discuss
nominated sites with people who are not members of the jury. Also, they are
not permitted to attempt to sway votes.
§3.5
The CotB, at his or her sole discretion, may award a Bronze Award to a site
having an average grade of at least 3.
§3.6
The chairman, at his or her sole discretion, may block the nomination of any
site at any time in the process.
§3.7
Any change to the paragraphs described herein must pass a 2/3 majority vote
in the jury.
§4 - Things that might increase your chances
§4.1
The site should be "Best experienced with any browser", and should not be too
heavy (it shouldn't take more than 30 seconds to fully download (56k modem)).
Jury members like organized designs that are easily navigated. Furthermore,
broken links and images will give your site a lower grade in that category.
Most members dislikes pop-up windows, though pop-ups provided by your hosting
provider (such as GroCities, Tripod, etc.) will be tolerated, and will not be
counted as a pop-up window. The same goes for ads provided by your hosting
provider (such as Xoom, who place an ad in the top of your site).
§5 - Refusal
§5.1
Eventhough we did not award your site, it doesn't mean that you cannot
re-submit it when you have made changes to either layout or content.
We want to keep the Awards prestigious, and we are therefore constrained to be
critical when reviewing sites, and we will turn down the majority of the
submitted applications. Furthermore, we cannot reply to all applications. If
you did not receive a reply, it means that your site has not been awarded,
obviously.
You will respect our choice for refusal, and we can under no circumstances be
held liable due to our choice.
§6 - Jury Rules
§6.1
The jury is restricted to a maximum of 8 persons. Currently, there are 3. The
maximum number of members will be reviewed by the board in the future.
§6.2
Members are permanent or until they choose to resign or are removed from the
jury by a 2/3 majority of the other jury members.
§6.3
A vacant jury seat is filled when a new member is nominated by the CotB and is
confirmed at an election amongst the lasting members. All lasting members must
vote 'Yay', before the seat can be filled by the nominated person.
§6.4
The CotB must be a current member of the jury, and must be confirmed by a 2/3 majority.
§6.5
The CotB term is permanent, or until he or she choose to resign, or is removed
by a 2/3 majority by the other jury members.
§6.6
All members must vote on every issue within the specified timeframe.
§6.7
Should a member of the jury be unable to vote on an issue, he or she must
name a proxy.
§6.8
Should a member of the jury be unable to vote on an issue, and he or she fails
to name a proxy also, the current CotB will vote in his or her place.
§6.9
Members of the jurywill not discuss current or prospective nominations with
anyone outside the jury.
§6.10
Members of the jury will not attempt to sway votes.
§6.11
Should a member of the jury want to have his or her own site evaluated, that
member will not be allowed to vote in that particular nomination.
§6.12
